Boulder Countdown T-10

After 8 months of training and only four days before I leave for Colorado, this $#%@ has quickly become real.

My new normal had been getting the living crap beaten out of me, squeezing in 5-6 hours of sleep, rising before the sun, and repeating, while navigating my 3 companies and being an engaged father to my 3 children and partner to my wife - provided my eyes weren’t rolling in the back of my skull.

Just like that, I can see “it”. Before today, “it” was just a conversation piece. Now, it’s about putting on the finishing touches that comes with it’s own set of challenges and anxiety.

As I write, I’m in between sessions at the annual Beachbody Summit in Nashville, joining my wife, daughter Kendall, a few dozen of the coaches on my team, and 25,000 others. It’s off the charts cool, but I signed up for the Boulder Ironman after the convention dates were announced. So, I am a bit jammed up thinking of packing Sunday night, when we return home, before leaving early Monday.

This morning, while everyone else was doing various workouts with celebrity trainers, I set out at 5:30am for a pool workout with my pals Noah and Irene Lam, only to find the facility closed. So, we gladly hit Priest Lake for an open water swim under threatening skies.

It wasn’t pretty, but I got it in. Nevertheless, it was another deposit in the Ironman bank.
